Celebrating Cultural Diversity Youth Forum (CCDYF)

Some of the 700 Children and Young People members of  the CCDN started an active Young Persons led BME Steering Group consisting of a lively and active group of BME youngsters. They defined their aims and objectives as follows:

CCDYF Aims & Objectives:

  • Supporting and developing the voice of Young People within their local communities

  • Raising awareness in respect of their identity and sense of belonging

  • Encourage Teamwork, support their Rites of Passage

  • Raising Self esteem and a positive sense of self

  • Providing positive Role models from the BME community

  • Develop Skills and nurture Young Peoples existing talents

  • Promoting a positive image of BME Youth to all Young People

  • Encourage involvement in environmental and human rights issues

  • Train and support PEER TRAINERS & Mentoring

  • Further Young people’s education, experiences & expectations

  • Motivates and improve Young people’s chances of paid employment

All CCDYF projects involve diverse youth in a variety of communities, encouraging the creation of a  forum for their own expression while developing mentoring relationships within their community.

Themes of contemporary disorientation find unique expression through the writings and voices of local youth, offering insights into the root causes of youth violence, cynicism and apathy.

Hearing the acute perspectives of youth can significantly change a communities perception of both local and national issues and inspire continuing conversations across the generation gap.

Please come and join into inspiring and empowering  local youth, fostering ongoing cross-generational dialogues and leading the development of unique local forms of mentoring.
