Mentoring: Invitation to become a CARRIER OF COMMUNITY

The word 'mentor' refers to 'lived knowledge' and comes from the old myth in which Mentor is a guide and teacher who works through inspired language and knowledge of survival.

You too can train to become a mentor and discover ways of clarifying what you and others have to offer in the way of teaching, guiding and passing on living skills and essential arts for surviving the challenges of contemporary life. Mentoring skills naturally extend to re-imagining meaningful elders and the importance of legacies for individuals and groups.

This process can be applied in existing organizations and agencies or used to find new forms for developing community based projects.

To become a Mentor please contact us.

Zena Edwards Master Class for BME Writers & Poets at the Centre of Creativity in association with "Don't feed the poets"

Zena Edwards, a world class poet and songwriter who left us all spellbound with her performance at last year's festival. Over the past eight years she has built up an impressive back catalogue of collaborations, creating new work alongside Pops Mohammed, Jonzi D, Jean Binta Breeze and Dana Bryant. Her work is cross-cultural and cross-guttural, lifting raw ingredients from a sweeping range of poetry and music forms and braking them into her distinctive Afro-Jazz, Urban-Soul style. According to Joelle Taylor at The Poetry Society "Zena's work is deep and sensuous, rhythmic and startling. Her poetry is not simply supported by music, but is music itself."

The Workshop was enjoyed by all that attended in November 2005.
