Celebrating & supporting new enterprise in our community

CCDN was successful in obtaining £10,000 to demonstrate our innovative methodology within a
community development approach, whilst meeting the required Local Enterprise Growth Initiative targets.

CCDN believes in a fair society, where people can develop their entrepreneurial talents with equal opportunities for those who want to set up their own business.
We combine our consultancy services with implementation and capacity building leading to the creation of sustainable, decent work and income for those who wish to use their talents.

To achieve our mission, the pilot linked entrepreneurs with the world of finance and business support services. Access to adequate and sustainable financial and non-financial services is essential, as well as effective functioning of the organisations rendering such services.

The cumulative experience of the members and member organisations of CCDN has
endowed us with a vast potential of know-how, a highly motivated staff of local experts
and professionals and a global network of organisations and partners.

Based on our recommendations, our service level agreement clearly specified that
£5500
of the
£10,000 is being paid directly to eligible potential entrepreneurs, in the context of
a “Participatory Budgeting” Exercise at our March BRING -A- DISH.

The remaining funds were successfully spent in overcoming identified barriers in
engagement delivering more than 291 hours of 1:1 & small group training, support &
mentoring accessed by the 58 subscribers of the pilot project. This included breakfast,
evening & weekend sessions as well as home visits.

We successfully engaged within the context of a two-way process: selected mentors had
much to offer in terms of encouragement and advice, but also acknowledged the value of
learning from the experience of mentees, raising their personal & professional awareness
and ability to respond to the ongoing multiple barriers.

Our Mentors helped pot. Entrepreneurs to:
- take stock of their career progress
and aspirations
- Increase confidence and motivation, defining strengths and development needs
- Learn how to improve their performance and leadership capabilities
- Get involved in mentor/mentee relationships and create support networks
