My name is Eleonore and I am developing a new social enterprise online shop HEAVY PETAL,
selling interesting and unique items not easily available in our local area, which can be found via eBay and are linked with appealing WebPages.

I am targeting a predominantly teen- audience, such as ethnic/multi-cultural toys/dolls &  fashion – e.g. clothing, bags, jewellery, shoes and other accessories including fairly-traded & self made items where possible.

My on-line presence of products for which there is a local demand will be further marketed via introducing the actual products during the monthly multicultural celebrations of Celebrating Cultural Diversity Network, of which I am a member. In addition I am aiming at exhibiting a range of exiting products at local festivals, schools & colleges and even personally organized parties amongst potential customers.

The ideas presented have been considered by myself for a long time, also because I have designed and made my own items of clothing from a young age. I am now studying fashion design at the Hastings college of arts and technology (HCAT), achieving grades of distinction. I am motivated and encouraged to design my own label, testing the local market with my own creations.

I am currently researching further on-line marketing tools, such as "my-space" pages, where I can advertise my shop and include pictures of items I am selling.

I am already a reliable eBay service user and I have built up a 100% positive feedback (from sellers) history and have tested my ability to pitch a small range of products at the right price with success.

I am confident that my business will do well because I have seen similar items and shops on eBay that do well and have gradually achieved a high turnover.

Celebrating Cultural Diversity Network LEGI pilot has helped me by providing more than 20 hours of 1:1 Mentoring as well as 2 small-group workshops, which contributed a lot to encourage & positively challenge me. I have furthered my research in respect of appropriate wholesalers and understanding of concepts such as full-cost recovery.
