Finance and Funding

We attract and generate money to support our work and manage our funds effectively and prudently. We exercise financial control, and accounts for our money within a frame work of law and good practise.

Systematically attracting money involves:

  • Planning our funding bids around our strategic aims
  • Building a broad funding base
  • Targeting potential funders appropriately

Systematically generating money involves:

  • Identifying potential sales of goods, services and resources which are in line with CCDN's charitable aims and contribute to CCDN's mission
  • Taking a businesslike approach to costs and benefits

Managing our funds effectively means:

  • Resources are managed to achieve the planned level of outputs
  • Costs are reduced to the minimum acceptable level
  • Waste is avoided

Managing our funds prudently means:

  • Necessary financial controls are in place
  • Investments that attract good levels of return and are within the ethical requirements set by our Board of Directors

Financial control means:

  • Systems and procedures ensure that spending is authorised and coded against budget headings
  • Cash flow and spending is monitored against budget headings
