April 2006
No doubt
many would say that the highlight of this months celebration featured
JC-YOUTH-DANCE presentations with flamboyant FLAMENCO, saucy
SAMBA, BOLLYWOOD & Contemporary Styles: one either watched in
amazement or actively joined, as many of the children did,
extending their latest dance moves. Debating the
forthcoming Elections in as many languages as one could conjure
up or jumping highest on the trampoline... the challenges of the
evening were no doubt multi disciplinary, ensuring fund and
stimulation for everybody. The Nigerian Cooking
Demonstrations, much loved also during the Opening of the BRIDGE
COMMUNITY CENTRE, where our second office base is located,
inspired not only taste buds and cooking skills but both
children and adults took the opportunity to learn and try out
some inspirational Indian Hatha Yoga and Breathing
practices which highlighted a creative way to achieve health
benefits for young and old alike.
Savita Burke from India told us “I teach a classical style,
after my fathers disciplined values and being a member of the
British Wheel of Yoga, Fitness Forum and FHT, having taught in
many schools and community groups across East Sussex, I am
delighted to have joined CCDN!”
Our
free Celebrations this Saturday also welcomed our much loved and
admired guest Henri Goabi, Master drummer from the Ivory Coast,
who brought the extravagant Masque and Stilt Dance to last years
SANKOFA FESTIVAL, a high profiled program for 28th of October
2006 is already in active planning mode!
CCDN Director Genni
Fernandes said: "Don't miss out for next month and do
bring your friends, neighbours, family, moves, rhythms, chants,
drums and any other instruments, as well as your contribution to
our wholesome feast and join into the big Party every last
Saturday of each month do let Hastings know, how much you value
