Volunteer Bilingual Artistes/Writers/Sound Engineer, London
Seeking bilingual writers and artistes for DUBASHA (a collection of audio stories
in English and South Asian Languages)
Keya's project DUBASHA is adapting the tradition of oral storytelling, to create
stories in both English and a South Asian language.
With support from Wandsworth Youth Enterprise Centre and OneLondon, Dubsha is a
project developing a series of stories that are a fusion of words, music and
visual art.
Keya is looking for artistes and writers who are comfortable reading, writing and
speaking in one or more of these Asian languages: Bengali (and/or Sylheti dialect),
Hindi, Gujurati, Panjabi and Urdu
Writers' task is to translate and change scripts to achieve the desired aural
effect, adding their own creative flair.
Artistes will be required for a day to perform stories in a studio where it will
be recorded. It may be necessary to rehearse before recordings take place.
Sound Engineer's will be required to assist with production of recordings.
The aim of this project is to develop a team to create something amazing. Some
experience is necessary, and some training will be provided.
P.S.: Budget is tight so initial payments will be small, but this is one project
that is expected to receive wide support. We will be applying for funding from the
Arts Council and looking to pay artists once the project is successfully launched
in the autumn! Thank you.
