Core values
Our
core values underpin all work and its delivery of services to local
BME communities.
We
distinguish between core values and practices; our core values
don't change, but our practices might.
Independent, aiming for self sufficiency, and
not for private profit :
We are
committed to building sustainability into service delivery in order to
improve the quality of life for BME communities now
and for future generations.
As an independent organisation we avoid over-reliance on a single
funder, and also aim to reduce dependence on grant-aid in the long term. To
do so, we are hoping to create an income-earning asset base, and build up
trading operations or contract income. We recognise that in poor communities
there is often a “social deficit” and contributions from public or
charitable funds may continue to be necessary. In order for CCDN to become
sustainable, cultivating enterprise and finding ways to become
self-sufficient are key. Finally, whenever we engage in business it is not
for private gain, and any surpluses are applied to the social objectives of
CCDN.
Community based, owned and managed,
accessible:
We are
committed to help create services which are open and accessible so that
everyone should feel able to approach us with confidence, be listened to and
treated with respect.
CCDN is driven by and accountable to our
members in various ways. Our Board of Directors is elected annually
from our membership base. We aim to introduce arrangements to safeguard
balance between BME, faith and interest groups. We arrive our
community legitimacy not only through constitutional arrangements but also
from day to day practice – due to the ways in which we involve local people
from BME communities in our work.
Fairness:
We promote equality where everyone is treated fairly but taking account of
the special needs of people who lack resources or face disadvantage. CCDN
will value and respect equally the contribution of all people involved,
including service users, staff and stakeholders. CCDN is committed to
equality of opportunities, whether as service users, trustees, paid or
unpaid staff.
Quality:
We are committed to continuous improvement and we will regularly
evaluate our work and seek to improve the standard of services we provide by
applying a businesslike approach that ensures efficient and effective
services, open to external scrutiny and continuously reviewed. |
